Judds to fix flood dam­aged roads

Judd & Sons P/L Yar­ra­wonga have been awarded the con­tract to carry out re­pairs to a large num­ber of formed and gravel pay­ments caused by floods in Au­gust 2016 through­out Fed­er­a­tion Coun­cil area.

Fed­er­a­tion Coun­cil ob­tained State Govern­ment fund­ing to fix up the dam­aged roads. Coun­cil will be re­im­bursed its ac­tual costs but is un­able to carry out the work us­ing its own work­force due to re­stric­tions in the fund­ing deed.

Six tenders were re­ceived fol­low­ing advertising in Oc­to­ber.

The suc­cess­ful ten­derer’s Matthew Judd said the mi­nor re­pairs on un­sealed ru­ral roads were through­out the Fed­er­a­tion Coun­cil area but “pre­dom­i­nantly from Corowa to Morun­dah”. The $M1.88 works will be un­der­taken in 2018.

* In other news, con­struc­tion of a new sludge la­goon at the Mul­wala Sew­er­age Treat­ment Plant has been awarded to Land­mark Con­sult­ing Pty Ltd for the sum of $597,408.90 within coun­cil’s bud­get of $600,000.
