Lo­cals prom­i­nent for Mur­ray Bushrangers

The lo­cal con­tin­gent in the Mur­ray Bushrangers TAC Cup squad have all fea­tured in the open­ing four rounds of the TAC Cup com­pe­ti­tion.

Ely Smith and Bai­ley Frauen­felder both from Yar­ra­wonga have played in all four games and fea­tured amongst the team’s best play­ers in the past two games.

Smith plays as an in­side mid­fielder and has been tak­ing on the best mid­field­ers across Vic­to­ria; and was named in the best against the San­dring­ham Dragons on Satur­day.

Frauen­felder plays as a wing/for­ward and kicked 7 goals in his last two games and be­ing named in the best against the Gee­long Fal­cons.

Finn O’Dwyer has played two games for the Mur­ray Bushrangers and fea­tured in the best play­ers in the clash against Gee­long. His form in those two games saw him named in the ini­tial Vic­to­ria Coun­try Squad; from which a fi­nal squad will be named in com­ing weeks for the Na­tional Divi­sion 1 Cham­pi­onships. O’Dwyer has played across the for­ward line; and will play foot­ball with Xavier Col­lege in Kew in the APS sys­tem, Yar­ra­wonga and the Mur­ray Bushrangers when avail­able.

Nick Irvine from Tungamah made his TAC Cup de­but against the San­dring­ham Dragons at Wan­garatta in Round 4 and kicked two goals in a 65-point vic­tory against one of the Metropoli­tan pow­er­house teams. Irvine played across the for­ward line and worked his way into the game to be a prom­i­nent player.

All four play­ers will play more games across sea­son 2018, with Smith, Frauen­felder and O’Dwyer home club be­ing Yar­ra­wonga in the Ovens and Mur­ray FNL and Irvine plays with Tungamah in the Mur­ray FNL.
