Locals prominent for Murray Bushrangers
The local contingent in the Murray Bushrangers TAC Cup squad have all featured in the opening four rounds of the TAC Cup competition.
Ely Smith and Bailey Frauenfelder both from Yarrawonga have played in all four games and featured amongst the team’s best players in the past two games.
Smith plays as an inside midfielder and has been taking on the best midfielders across Victoria; and was named in the best against the Sandringham Dragons on Saturday.
Frauenfelder plays as a wing/forward and kicked 7 goals in his last two games and being named in the best against the Geelong Falcons.
Finn O’Dwyer has played two games for the Murray Bushrangers and featured in the best players in the clash against Geelong. His form in those two games saw him named in the initial Victoria Country Squad; from which a final squad will be named in coming weeks for the National Division 1 Championships. O’Dwyer has played across the forward line; and will play football with Xavier College in Kew in the APS system, Yarrawonga and the Murray Bushrangers when available.
Nick Irvine from Tungamah made his TAC Cup debut against the Sandringham Dragons at Wangaratta in Round 4 and kicked two goals in a 65-point victory against one of the Metropolitan powerhouse teams. Irvine played across the forward line and worked his way into the game to be a prominent player.
All four players will play more games across season 2018, with Smith, Frauenfelder and O’Dwyer home club being Yarrawonga in the Ovens and Murray FNL and Irvine plays with Tungamah in the Murray FNL.
