Pigeons hard fought win
Yarrawonga under 12’s battled to a hard fought 17 point win this weekend over the Wodonga White Bulldogs who were gallant in defeat.
The young Pigeons coming off the back of a great win last week were a little slow to start their campaign but soon managed their first goal on the board from backman come forward Jye Brennan.
Another soon followed after relentless determination from Loch Harvey.
Jaxon Potter showed why he was credible through the midfield winning his fair share of the contested footy with great run and carry.
For the duration of the second term the Pigeons held up strong in the back half with Memphis Bramich and co-captain Lachie Dwyer displaying solid defence.
Aiden Steele at full back managed to get the better of his opponent while Declan Martin and Lachie Bosch showed commitment with a hard run off the wing.
Cohen Cuskelly continued on with great form kicking Yarrawonga’s third goal.
The Bulldogs ramped up their work rate levelling the scores in the third quarter.
The Pigeons refused to lie down and lifted to a new level with Darby Mullins and Loch Harvey throwing their bodies on the line.
Riley Bone and Griffen Surrey continued to work the footy forward at every stoppage aiding no wasted opportunity goals to Jye Brennan and Darby Pendergast.
Yarrawonga finishing off the 3rd quarter with a 1 goal lead over the Bulldogs.
In a high tension last quarter, the Pigeons held strong showing determined spirit and commitment.
