Pi­geons hard fought win

Yar­ra­wonga un­der 12’s bat­tled to a hard fought 17 point win this week­end over the Wodonga White Bull­dogs who were gal­lant in de­feat.

The young Pi­geons com­ing off the back of a great win last week were a lit­tle slow to start their cam­paign but soon man­aged their first goal on the board from back­man come for­ward Jye Bren­nan.

An­other soon fol­lowed af­ter re­lent­less de­ter­mi­na­tion from Loch Har­vey.

Jaxon Pot­ter showed why he was cred­i­ble through the mid­field win­ning his fair share of the con­tested footy with great run and carry.

For the du­ra­tion of the sec­ond term the Pi­geons held up strong in the back half with Mem­phis Bramich and co-cap­tain Lachie Dwyer dis­play­ing solid de­fence.

Ai­den Steele at full back man­aged to get the bet­ter of his op­po­nent while De­clan Martin and Lachie Bosch showed com­mit­ment with a hard run off the wing.

Co­hen Cuskelly con­tin­ued on with great form kick­ing Yar­ra­wonga’s third goal.

The Bull­dogs ramped up their work rate lev­el­ling the scores in the third quar­ter.

The Pi­geons re­fused to lie down and lifted to a new level with Darby Mullins and Loch Har­vey throw­ing their bod­ies on the line.

Ri­ley Bone and Grif­fen Sur­rey con­tin­ued to work the footy for­ward at ev­ery stop­page aid­ing no wasted op­por­tu­nity goals to Jye Bren­nan and Darby Pen­der­gast.

Yar­ra­wonga fin­ish­ing off the 3rd quar­ter with a 1 goal lead over the Bull­dogs.

In a high ten­sion last quar­ter, the Pi­geons held strong show­ing de­ter­mined spirit and com­mit­ment.

Lach­lan Bosch kick­ing a great shot from 30 me­ters out while the man of the mo­ment Ja­cob Doig sealed the game scor­ing the last 2 goals lead­ing Yar­ra­wonga to a 17-point vic­tory.
