Coun­cil’s Round 2 fund­ing to res­cue

Com­mu­nity or­gan­i­sa­tions through­out Fed­er­a­tion Coun­cil area which are ex­pe­ri­enc­ing fi­nan­cial dif­fi­cul­ties com­plet­ing their Round 2 Stronger Com­mu­ni­ties Mi­nor Grants un­der $50,000 projects, are to re­ceive ad­di­tional fi­nan­cial as­sis­tance.

“It was to be ex­pected that some mi­nor un­ex­pected fi­nan­cial and de­liv­ery chal­lenges could present as works on the projects pro­gressed, given most are com­mu­nity-based projects in­volv­ing vol­un­teers, and coun­cil has been dili­gent in keep­ing a small re­serve for such oc­cur­rences,” coun­cil’s In­terim Gen­eral Man­ager Adrian But­ler said.

To­tal grant al­lo­ca­tions from the $1 mil­lion mi­nor grants reached $888,680 leav­ing an un­al­lo­cated fund bal­ance of $111,320.

Coun­cil­lors unan­i­mously agreed, at yes­ter­day’s May meet­ing, that the seven com­mu­nity or­gan­i­sa­tions which sought ad­di­tional fund­ing, would re­ceive a to­tal of $66,247. Those fur­ther ad­vances are for:

- Paradise Pal­la­dium The­atre $25,000 * Urana Progress As­so­ci­a­tion - Urana Ad

ven­ture and Skate Park $16,525

* Corowa Ten­nis Club - fence in­stal­la­tion

* Rand Sports Ground Com­mit­tee -Rand

* Mul­wala Foot­ball Net­ball Club - so­lar pow

Over­all, for Round 1 (ma­jor projects) and Round 2, an un­al­lo­cated fund bal­ance of $117,230 re­mains af­ter the fore­go­ing projects re­ceive ad­di­tional fund­ing, and be­cause of a with­drawn project and un­der­spends to be re­turned to the un­al­lo­cated fund.

If not al­ready, the 13 Round 2 projects are due for com­ple­tion by May 31, 2018.

* Com­mu­nity groups, clubs and or­gan­i­sa­tions can ap­ply fund­ing of up to $3,000 through the Com­mu­nity Grants Pro­gram, up to Mon­day, May 2018. Round 2 of the pro­gram opened on April 30. A to­tal of $27,630 re­mains avail­able af­ter Round 1 fund­ing.
