Yarrawonga Chronicle - - Front Page - BY ROBERT MUIR

Federation Council’s draft Ageing Well Strategy is now on public exhibition for a four-week period, from May 16 to June 13, 2018.

After receiving much praise at council’s extraordinary meeting on May 1 - as reported in the Free Press and Yarrawonga Chronicle - the draft strategy was adopted at yesterday’s monthly meeting. Placing the draft document on public exhibition provides the community and stakeholders with an opportunity to provide feedback.

“The local Ageing Well Ambassadors will play an important role in helping to identify and consider feedback, prior to finalising the strategy for adoption,” Federation Council’s Director Corporate and Community Services Kristy Kay said.

The strategy has been described as “absolutely amazing” by Mayor Pat Bourke.

Preparation of the strategy has involved a steering committee comprising 11 senior ambassadors throughout Federation Council area, literature reviews and data analysis, consultation with 118 senior residents through 12 focus groups, consultations with 23 service providers, a community survey with 239 responses, a review of council’s policies, strategies and plans, development of a background paper and consultation with key council staff.
