A Grade

Destined to put another win on the board the A grade girls gave it their all for 15 minutes then refocused to make the needed changes. With the sky gloomy and puddles of water all over the courts each player knew that they would always need to be a backup option. The first half saw plenty of taps and intercepts where there was always an option to give it to. Proving the determination the girls had to win they had a 10 goal lead at half time. In the second half the passing dropped off but the desire for a win did not, Kim’s perseverance was demonstrated through her taps and intercepts in defence. In the attack end Adele was moving and resetting when needed to work the ball in, she was able to hold her own and apply pressure in the mid court. In the end Tungamah came away with a much deserved win.

With arctic conditions at Tungamah the B Grade chose to warm up indoors. This wasn’t the best choice for the day as the Bears had a horribly funny start finding it very hard to catch the ball and get it into the goal ring. Re- sulting in a goalless first quarter for Tungamah giving Congupna a 10 goal lead.

The Bears came out in the second quarter playing much better. The bodies had warmed up and were able to catch the ball and convert some goals.

A few changes were made in the second half and were playing much better netball in the wet conditions. The defence end worked extremely hard all game and got lots of intercepts and rebounds giving the attack end lot of chances at goals, but unfortunately it wasn’t the Bears day in the goal ring. All girls tried hard in the horrible conditions and never gave up

A tough game for the girls in wet and cold conditions. New positions for some saw it take a while to settle but there were some good passages of play and movement. The defense worked overtime with Congupna’s shooters barely missing (and Josie hitting the deck more than once), the mid court always offered and the shooters tried to make space in the ring.

A really positive game for the team, great defensive pressure across the court, good forward movement, great moving around the goals, lots of positive reinforcement from the girls despite the pouring rain.

The wettest day that this young team has played in years, saw everyone making mistakes with a heavy slippery ball. For three quarters Tungamah chased their opponents up and down the court never quite catching them. The fourth quarter began, the rain was the heaviest it had been and the netball court lights were turned on. Tungamah switched on and showed a team begin to show aggression at the ball, remain steady and improve with their passing. As goal after goal passed through the ring, Tungamah levelled the score then the girls ran away with it. The crowd became louder with each pass, and no doubt spurred them on to a 4-goal lead at the final whistle. Awesome win from behind.

The girls were able to come away with a well deserved win on a very fresh Saturday morning. Every girl gave it their all which was great to see despite the cold. Deb and Molly were able to rotate players throughout each quarter and the girls adapted well to the changes that were made. Just need to remember to lead to the ball and not away from it.

Penny Thomson (GD,GK) and Tayla Crothers (WA,WD) each played great games to take out the awards this week. Subway: Penny Thomson. TFNC: Tayla Crothers

Amazing game by every single one of the girls, and the people on the side lines will agree. The girls are improving each and every time they step to the court. They had their heads up from the start and their persistence gave them their first win for the day.

Defenders killed it the whole game with intercepts, turnovers and pickups that made it down to the shooting end where the girls worked amazing together reading off each other and creating the space they needed.

Can’t forget the mid court, their drives and playing in front gave Tunga the start they needed.

Keep doing what you do girls. Awards: Maccas- Bella Lonergan, Video Land- Aliela McAllen, Subway (coaches)Charlie Pardo.
