Yarrawonga 8.19.67 def Lavington 4.5.29.

The drought is over. After four years of despair the Pigeons boys finally put to bed some demons with a commanding performance beating Lavington in appalling conditions. In a true test of willpower and desire, it was Yarrawonga who smashed the Panthers off their own park. From the very first contest Yarrawonga set the standard with aggression and toughness and fearless straight-line running.

The brute strength of Ned, Jet and Tanner in the midfield set the tone for the game and the rest of the team followed. Jack and Cooper worked hard on their wings providing run and carry and distribution to the Pigeons forwards. Zac and Ben were superb at ground level with clean hands pouncing on everything that came their way.

After withstanding an early push by Lavington in the second quarter, Yarrawonga flexed its muscles and went through the gears in a display of pure domination. Will moved into the ruck and gave the Pigeon mids continuous first look at the football. Nick worked hard across half forward providing a dominant target up forward. From then on it was one-way traffic for the rest of the game.

Goals: Ben Woodburn 3, Zac Banch 2, Max Hemphill, Tanner Nyholm, Jack Forge 1 Best: Ned Pendergast, Jet Smith, Will Wheaton, Tanner Nyholm, Zac Banch, Ben Woodburn.
