AFL NEB WOMENS FOOTBALL
On a cold and windy afternoon in Wodonga, the Yarrawonga women’s football team battled for a hard-fought win.
The Pigeons welcomed back Chelsea Mark’s and mercurial Molly Giggin’s.
Both girls were a great asset to the team, with their ability to mark and run.
Some spectators may have even mistaken mercurial Molly, for Daisy Pearce.
Rory Phibb’s relentless tackling and pressure allowed for forwards, such as Jess Butcher and Tyler Houghton to make some magnificent leads.
As well as exceptional drive and leadership in the back line from coach Mal Nankervis demonstrating her precision and composure when handling the ball.
Mal’s skills had a flow on effect to other players in the back line, in likes of Jenna Knight and Chloe Bogle.
Furthermore, the game wouldn’t be possible if some of the Pigeons girls played for Wodonga.
Those players are Courtney Young, Bonnie Campbell, Amy Williams and Sheree McNamara.
Not to mention a big thank you to all the people that volunteered their time to help girls play this weekend.
