Town Hall steering committee appointed
The Yarrawonga Town Hall and library redevelopment steering committee has now been confirmed with Yarrawonga Neighbourhood House endorsed as the community organisation and Dr Clyde Ronan and Dr Treahna Hamm joining the committee as individuals.
Following the August Moira Shire ordinary meeting, council called for nominations to the steering committee from the public.
The nominations closed on September 14 with three nominations received.
The Steering Committees purpose is to inform the delivery of a new library in Yarrawonga.
The September ordinary meeting agenda states all nominations received were of a high quality and the appointment of Yarrawonga Neighbourhood House as the Community Organisation and Dr Clyde Ronan and Dr Treahna Hamm as individuals was the best fit for the committee.
The steering committee compositions will be:
· Moira Shire Council - Councillors (includ
ing Chair) 3, Management, 1.
· Goulburn Valley Regional Libraries - Chief Executive Officer 1, Library Staff 1, Board Member, 1.
· Community Representation - Community Organisation 1, Individual 2, Yarrawonga Town Hall Precinct and Library Project Community Reference Group (2).
The September council report said after assessment of the nominations council officers recommended these nominees be appointed to the Steering Committee as it was considered that they are quality nominations.
They bring with them a variety of experiences and have extensive and diverse existing relationships and networks within the community.
The report also stated the assessment of the three applications is that they will contribute to the Steering Committee meeting its objectives.
Community consultation, through the Steering Committee and with the broader community will occur at key times and throughout the entire progress of the new Yarrawonga Library Project.
The committee will then commence in its role of informing the delivery of a new library in Yarrawonga.
