Determination brings results

Sometimes, it takes a little nudge to get the ball rolling. Such was the case with one woman’s passionate determination to assist the drought-stricken communities in NSW.

Inner Wheel Club member, Roisin Cilia wanted to do something immediately, and brought the subject up at an informal coffee morning.

Roisin mentioned that she had a direct contact with a member of the Lions Club of Barooga involved with “Need for Feed” project, delivering hay and other emergency supplies to the New England area.

Club members immediately threw their support and efforts into the project, while Roison took on the job of co-ordinator.

The Inner Wheel Club voted unanimously to donate $500 to the cause, while club members privately donated cash, which Roisin pledged to match.

Generous community members also contributed to the project, bringing the cash total to $2,800.

The money was used to purchase 10 x 10kg milk powder for feeding young lambs, 90 litres of bottled water for families, and 11 pre-paid gift cards for necessities that could be purchased locally in the hard hit communities.

Members also purchased non-perishable food, household and personal items and made up 11 hampers (with a $200 gift card in each) which were delivered direct to farming families in Tamworth on August 31.
