YMGCR Club Events

Mens and Ladies Sin­gles Cham­pi­onships are now in progress with good fields con­test­ing in the early rounds.

Other events and clos­ing dates are ad­ver­tised on the no­tice board.

O&M/State Events

The Ladies Over 60’s Fi­nal was played in Ruther­glen last Fri­day with Wodonga’s Lyn Win­ter hav­ing a win over our Anne Miles. Well played Anne, in reach­ing the fi­nal.

Women’s Triples Fi­nal was played on Sun­day, Oc­to­ber 28 at Corowa Civic.

Anne, Claire and Lau­reen played off against a team which in­cluded YMGCR’s Sue Mid­dle­ton. Our three girls lost by one, but we will be fol­low­ing fur­ther re­sults with Sue.

Anne Miles has also been named in what she calls the “nor­mal” Vic­to­rian side to play a test against Tas­ma­nia in De­cem­ber.

ClubMul­wala Out­door Bowls

Fine weather and good bowls were the or­der of the day this week.

Pen­nant Re­sult

All pen­nant teams were away this week. Tues­day pen­nant was played in good con­di­tions: A2 were away to St James whose greens were pre­sented in won­der­ful con­di­tion, this is a great lit­tle club to play at, strong com­pe­ti­tion a good hosts.

On the day St James was just a lit­tle too strong, win­ning two of the three rinks and a win over­all.

B1 trav­elled to Swan­pool where some very tough com­pe­ti­tion was en­coun­tered, with Swan­pool win­ning two out of three rinks and com­ing out on top over­all.

Satur­day saw B2 travel to Be­nalla where they re­ally showed their class com­ing away with strong wins on all rinks.

B5 trav­elled to Swan­pool, where they were suc­cess­ful on two rinks, com­ing away with an over­all win.

Great to see our teams are start­ing to put to­gether some con­sis­tent re­sults, how­ever we can not rest on our lau­rels, prac­tice is im­por­tant to con­tin­u­ing suc­cess.

Pen­nant se­lec­tion

Our pen­nant se­lec­tors will meet each Tues­day af­ter com­ple­tion of the day’s com­pe­ti­tion to se­lect teams for the next Satur­day and Tues­day matches.

Team sheets will be on the no­tice board late Tues­day af­ter­noon, please check the teams.

If you find you have been se­lected and are un­able to play con­tact John Thurl­ing (57432368) straight away to ad­vise him, so that al­ter­na­tive ar­range­ments can be made.

Prac­tice

Prac­tice is on ev­ery Thurs­day from 3.30pm all mem­bers need to make an ef­fort to come to train­ing, as our early pen­nant re­sults show there is room for im­prove­ment and con­sis­tency.

Novem­ber 11 Re­mem­brance Day Tour­na­ment this is a ma­jor event for our club with sub­stan­tial prize money on of­fer, there are still a cou­ple of places avail­able, why not put to­gether a team, (must be mixed gen­der) and en­ter, full de­tails are on our no­tice board.

Our Ladies Tour­na­ment is on To­mor­row, Thurs­day Novem­ber 1. Could those that are bring­ing sal­ads please have them at the Club by 11am. Thank you for your help.

The Mixed Pairs Fi­nal was played on Sun­day Oc­to­ber 28. The Win­ners of this game were L Mur­doch and K McQual­ter. Con­grat­u­la­tions to Jock and Liz and well done also to Ian Woods and Ros King for be­ing Run­ners Up.

The Men’s and Ladies Cham­pi­onship Pairs draws are up. Good Bowl­ing to those that have en­tered this event.

Our Coach­ing is on ev­ery Fri­day start­ing at 3.15pm for those that would like to im­prove their skills.

Mid­week Pen­nant Re­sults - Oc­to­ber 23

A1 played YMGCR and lost by 3 shots even though they won 3 of the 4 rinks.

B1 played Be­nalla and won by 8 shots with 1 rink get­ting up.

Week­end Pen­nant - Oc­to­ber 27

A1 played Wan­garatta and won by 11 shots with 2 of the 4 rinks get­ting up.

A3 played Wodonga and lost with 2 of the 4 rinks get­ting up.

B2 played YMGCR and won with 1 rink get­ting up.
