Yarrawonga Chronicle - - Front Page - BY ROBERT MUIR

After their back-to-back football premierships, Rennie Football Netball Club will be in lights again in season 2019.

It follows more success, via Round 2 of the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund, with a $272,965 grant for a substantial lighting upgrade at Rennie Recreation Reserve.

The new lighting will replace existing lighting at the reserve with LED lighting.

This will provide adequate, cost-effective and energy-efficient lighting to the football oval, netball/tennis courts, carpark and playground.

It will ensure the safety of all visitors and increase the facility’s usefulness. The Rennie Recreational Reserve is a vital community asset for local farming families.

Outgoing Rennie club president after seven years at the helm, Andrew Starr praised the work of Craig and Fiona Marshall (football), Meegan McInness (netball) and Jan Davis (recreation reserve) who put the submission together for Federation Council endorsement and State Government approval.

“They did a great job,” Mr Starr told the Yarrawonga Chronicle. “We thank council and the state government for this funding. It will be very well received.

“The existing lighting is very old and now not very effective. The new lighting will provide for a safer environment. It’s a great grant.”

Sixteen projects in the Federation Council area received a total of $3.6 million, as announced by State Member for Albury Greg Aplin on October 9 who described the overall result for Federation Council a “a great outcome”.
