One of the most frus­trat­ing parts of ge­neal­ogy is that whilst we have maps and black and white pho­tos of the streets where our an­ces­tors lived, and fac­tual de­tails re­lat­ing to them, it can still be hard to vi­su­alise how they might have lived.

How­ever, his­to­ri­ans have re­cently been mak­ing use of new tech­nolo­gies to bring our an­ces­tors’ worlds to life like never be­fore. These so- called vi­su­al­i­sa­tions have been painstak­ingly re­searched to vi­su­alise what our an­ces­tors’ en­vi­ron­ments re­ally looked like.
