When Fox Tal­bot cre­ated a neg­a­tive of a win­dow at La­cock Abbey in 1835, it was a ma­jor break­through in the his­tory of pho­tog­ra­phy. That neg­a­tive is now on dis­play in the South Gallery at La­cock, next to the win­dow that Fox Tal­bot pho­tographed, and is one of the world’s most im­por­tant pho­to­graphic arte­facts.
