Business Spotlight - - FACTS & FIGURES -

The planet’s oceans are now home to five huge garbage patches, the largest one being the Great Pacific Garbage Patch (GPGP), located between Hawaii and California. The GPGP covers an estimated surface area of 1.6 million square kilometres, which is three times the size of France. The accumulated GPGP plastic weighs 80,000 tons, the equivalent of 500 jumbo jets. Ocean plastics make up 74 per cent of the diet of sea turtles in and around the GPGP.
