Ello, my name is Ross Vlahos.

I’m a 60-year-old carpenter and home-repair specialist from Brisbane, which is in Queensland, Australia. I’ve been doing this as my occupation for the past 16 years. I was trained many years ago and decided to go back into carpentry after a number of years doing another job. My typical day starts at approximately six in the morning, when I rise and have a shower. Then I have breakfast and organize my lunch for the day.

I own a Mitsubishi Pajero four-wheel drive and a big trailer for all of my tools. I hitch the trailer and then I’m off to work. The job can entail anything from rebuilding pergolas and decks to replacing fencing and repairing termite damage in homes. Termites are quite common where I live, so there are regularly rotten timber and termite issues that have to be dealt with.
