De­vel­op­ment of women en­trepreneur­ship in fo­cus

Baku has hosted an in­ter­na­tional con­fer­ence en­ti­tled “De­vel­op­ment of women en­trepreneur­ship: prob­lems and prospects”.

The event brings to­gether ex­perts and del­e­gates from Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Kaza­khstan, Tu­nisia, Ja­pan, Kuwait, Uzbek­istan, Swe­den, Ta­jik­istan, Morocco and Ro­ma­nia, as well as rep­re­sen­ta­tives of in­ter­na­tional or­ga­ni­za­tions.

Chair of the State Com­mit­tee for Fam­ily, Women and Chil­dren Af­fairs Hi­jran Huseynova, open­ing the con­fer­ence, thanked the Azer­bai­jani au­thor­i­ties for as­sis­tance in or­ga­niz­ing the event.

She said the con­fer­ence aims to de­velop women en­trepreneur­ship and ex­pand co­op­er­a­tion in pro­tect­ing women`s rights and en­sur­ing their em­ploy­ment.

Huseynova stressed that de­vel­op­ment of women en­trepreneur­ship has a pos­i­tive im­pact on so­ci­ety.

Deputy Prime Min­is­ter Ali Ah­madov, ad­dress­ing the event, stressed the sig­nif­i­cance of en­sur­ing eco­nomic in­de­pen­dence of women.

He high­lighted the gov­ern­ment’s ef­forts to boost the de­vel­op­ment of women en­trepreneur­ship. “Thanks to mea­sures taken by the gov­ern­ment the num­ber of women en­trepreneurs has in­creased in Azer­bai­jan in the past two years,” he noted.

On im­por­tance of the women en­trepreneur­ship, the deputy pre­mier fur­ther com­mented: “A com­pre­hen­sive con­di­tion is cre­ated in the coun­try for the de­vel­op­ment of rel­e­vant field.”

Speak­ing at the con­fer­ence, Pres­i­dent of the Na­tional Con­fed­er­a­tion of En­trepreneurs “Em­ploy­ers” Or­ga­ni­za­tions of Azer­bai­jan Mam­mad Musayev said the num­ber of women en­trepreneurs in­creased dra­mat­i­cally.

Musayev noted that there are more than 121,000 women en­trepreneurs in the coun­try.

“En­cour­ag­ing women en­trepreneur­ship, im­prov­ing their skills and in­creas­ing pro­fes­sion­al­ism will con­trib­ute to the de­vel­op­ment of the coun­try`s econ­omy in gen­eral,” he added.

The con­fer­ence is co-or­ga­nized by Azer­bai­jan`s State Com­mit­tee for Fam­ily, Women and Chil­dren Af­fairs, Min­istry of Econ­omy and the Na­tional Con­fed­er­a­tion of En­trepreneurs (Em­ploy­ers') Or­gan­i­sa­tions of Azer­bai­jan Re­pub­lic (ASK).
