Azer­bai­jani boxer wins his third world ti­tle

The 2017 AIBA World Box­ing Cham­pi­onships ended in Ham­burg, Ger­many, where over 200 box­ers from across the globe com­peted for world cham­pion ti­tles. Azer­bai­jan’s hopes were pinned on Ma­ham­madra­sul Ma­ji­dov (+91 kg), Lorenzo So­tomayor (64 kq), Kam­ran Shakhsu­varli (75 kq) and Parviz Ba­girov (69 kg).

Azer­bai­jan’s hopes were pinned on Ma­ham­madra­sul Ma­ji­dov (+91 kg), Lorenzo So­tomayor (64 kq), Kam­ran Shakhsu­varli (75 kq) and Parviz Ba­girov (69 kg).

Ma­ham­madra­sul Ma­ji­dov (+91kg) claimed his third world ti­tle as tri­umphed in Ger­many, Az­er­tac re­ported.

Ma­ji­dov claimed gold af­ter de­feat­ing Kazakh Kamshibek Kunk­abayev 4-1 in the fi­nal bout in the 91kg weight cat­e­gory.

He be­came the first Azer­bai­jani boxer who achieved such suc­cess.

Ma­ji­dov has al­ready be­came the twice world cham­pion in Baku in 2011 and in Al­maty in 2013. The boxer is also the bronze medal­ist of the 2012 Olympic Games and 2015 Euro­pean Games. He was crowned Euro­pean Cham­pion in 2013 in Minsk.

More­over, the boxer is the win­ner of Baku 2017 Is­lamic Sol­i­dar­ity Games

Boxer Kam­ran Shah­su­varli (75kg) claimed bronze in Ger­many.

Over­all, Azer­bai­jani box­ers fin­ished 4th in the over­all medal ta­ble of the AIBA World Cham­pi­onships held in Ham­burg, Ger­many.

Cuba topped the medal ta­ble, fol­lowed by Uzbek­istan and Kaza­khstan.
