Management Change at Y&R
Y&R Global CEO David Sable announced the appointment of Ramzy Abou-ezzeddine as CEO of Y&R in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Ramzy will oversee all of Y&R’S operations in the region, which includes the Intermarkets, Classic Partnership and Labstore agencies. “The Middle East is an important part of our global network and corporate strategy. We have enormous strengths there already, including a deep bench of talent that consistently produces great work for our clients. Ramzy’s appointment signals our continued commitment and focus on the region,” said Sable. “He has deep insight into the region’s markets, a proven track record, and a strong passion for our business and our brands. We see tremendous opportunity with him in place there going forward,” he continued. Abou-ezzeddine spent the last 23 years in marketing communications positions across the MENA region. He was most recently the Group Head of Marketing & Communication for Bank Audi. The bulk of his career, however, has been at Leo Burnett, where he spent 13 years, and held leadership roles in Saudi Arabia, Cairo and Dubai. Abou-ezzeddine was voted “Marketer of the Year 2011” at the GEMAS Effie Mena Awards, the regional marketing effectiveness awards for the Effies.
Georges Barsoum has been named CEO of Y&R in the GCC. Barsoum will be based in Dubai but is responsible for Qatar, the UAE, Oman and the KSA. For the past 16 years, Barsoum has been positioned at Leo Burnett, most recently as the regional managing director for Leo Burnett Saudi Arabia. Prior to Georges’ managing director roles at Leo Burnett, he was regional director and planner for P&G MENA’S laundry business.
