As-Safir logo was designed in 1974 by the reowned Egyptian artist Helmi El-touni, who also designed the layout of the first edition printed on the 26th of March, 1974. The logo features a dove, which represents peace. It also is considered as a messenger (carrier pigeon). The name of the newspaper, 'As-safir', ͚ means ambassador in Arabic. The round shape and orange colour of the dove reminds us of the rising sun. However, what is not evident, is that the colour is indicative of an orange, a fruit widely present on the Arab East Mediterranean coast stretching from Palestine in the South to Syria farther North. Furthermore, As-Safir's two main mottos are: "the Voice of the Voiceless" and and “Lebanon Newspaper in the Arab World and the Arab World Newspaper in Lebanon”.
