Louis Vuitton draws on eL Seed for START charity
Regional street artist designs scarves using signature Arabic ‘calligrafitti’ style
Mena/France Louis Vuitton draws on the skills of Franco-Tunisian street artist, eL Seed to participate in its recent Foulards d’Artistes project, to recreate its classic silk scarf using his signature Arabic ‘calligraffiti’ style.
eL Seed has also developed a window installation using Louis Vuitton’s Alzers, the hard-sided luggage, making them the first products to be designed by a regional artist for the brand.
The Alzer pieces will be auctioned for the benefit of START at the Christies Modern and Contemporary Arab, Iranian and Turkish Art Sale, later this month.
Born to Tunisian parents in Paris, eL Seed presented his first Eu ropea n solo exhibition in October 2012.
He is currently in Doha, working on one of his biggest mural projects to date, for the Qatar Museum Authority.
STA RT is a non-prof it organisation, set up by Art Dubai and the Al Madad Foundation. It offers art workshops for children with special needs across the Middle East region and India, along with refugees from Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine.
