MISPLACED ANGER

-

To all those who are blaming President Trump and opposing his move of withdrawing funding and the membership of the US from WHO, the anger and resentment is misplaced.

True, the WHO has been extremely important in combating diseases such as measles and polio and it is the body that the world’s countries turn to for advisories and guidance.

However of late, the who has been compromised. Like every other organisation, it is not immune to political pressures and games. Its delayed response during the Ebola outbreak killed thousands. Now it has found itself in another controversy ater delaying and succumbing to Chinese pressure with regards to the coronavirus.

Is Trump to be blamed? No. Unless the WHO revamps itself and weeds out the political pressures, it will be compromised. The ire of the people must be directed at China and the WHO, both of who need to restructure themselves.
