Jordan notes sizeable slump in therapeutic tourism

Competition and taxes blamed…

Travel Daily ME - - News -

Jordan’s tourism revenue from therapy has dropped by 15%, according to a report by Reuters. Head of Jordan Private Hospitals Association (PHA) Dr Fawzi Al Hammouri said the sector only made $1.02 billion, a 15% fall on 2014’s figure.

Regional competition was blamed along with strict security measures on tourists of some nationalities who visit Jordan.

Costs have also reportedly increased, with heavier taxation on private hospitals, but the Ministry of Tourism said it had nothing to do with the decline in revenues from the sector.
