Uber to roll out economy service in Dubai
hailing app Uber will roll out its economy service UberX in Dubai in the coming months, company co-founder and chief executive officer Travis Kalanick has told Arabian Business.
In January, the US-based online transportation network company signed a cooperation agreement with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority to study offering new products in the economic transit to support Dubai Vision 2021.
“We are looking out at rolling out an economy ridesharing service here in Dubai. It’s a cosmopolitan city and has travellers from countries all around the world. We are making sure that they have an ‘affordable’ way to get around in the city,” Kalanick said.
“And the residents here also need a very efficient mobility service to get around the city. In the meantime, you create tens and thousands of jobs for the residents here, and that is a benefit that Uber brings when we are able to expand.”
The UberX service is expected to be launched in the emirate in March on a pilot basis, Kalanick said. Click here for full story
