Accused deemed fit to plead
A man who was sent for psychiatric evaluation has been deemed fit enough to plead on a charge of damaging a vehicle.
After appearing before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-sargeant on December 2, charged with unlawfully damaging a car belonging to Anderson Niles, Terry Alphonso Herbert did not enter a plea and was remanded to the Psychiatric Hospital for three weeks. During that time he was scheduled to undergo an evaluation and a report was prepared.
When the 55-year-old unemployed Herbert, of Alkins Land, Eagle Hall, St Michael, returned to the District “A” Magistrates’ Court yesterday, the report said he was fit to plead.
However, Magistrate Douglas Frederick remanded him to HMP Dodds until January 18, when he is expected to re-appear before Cuffy-sargeant in the Criminal Court No. 2.
