Pig owner backs down, case dis­missed

The four men ac­cused of steal­ing 21 pigs and 12 bags of pig feed had their mat­ters dis­missed when they ap­peared in the Dis­trict “D” Mag­is­trates’ Court ear­lier this week.

Mar­lon Fitzger­ald Box­hill, 41, of Lodge Hill; Ke­mar Shamar Tur­ton, 21, of Lewis Gap, Green Hill; and Robert Dacosta Walker, 48, of No. 36 Seclu­sion Gar­dens, Black Rock, all in St Michael, along with Ja­mal Em­manuel Lewis, 31, of Foster Hall, St John, were charged with the of­fence, which was al­leged to have oc­curred be­tween June 19 and 20 at Green­land, St An­drew.

Box­hill, Tur­ton and Walker orig­i­nally ap­peared be­fore Mag­is­trate Lau­rie-ann Smith-bovell last Fri­day and were re­manded to HMP Dodds, while Lewis re­ceived med­i­cal treat­ment at the Queen El­iz­a­beth Hos­pi­tal.

How­ever, when they reap­peared be­fore Mag­is­trate Ian Weekes in the Dis­trict “D” Mag­is­trates’ Court on Oc­to­ber 1, the com­plainant said he had no in­ten­tion of pur­su­ing the mat­ters, and the cases were dis­missed.

Lewis also had the charges against him dropped when he reap­peared be­fore Mag­is­trate Weekes on Oc­to­ber 3.
