Truck damages house

Daily Nation (Barbados) - - News -

Just as Kalah Alleyne was getting over the water damage to her home caused by Tropical Storm Kirk, she had another unwelcome visitor yesterday morning.

Alleyne, who lives at Woodbourne, St Philip, suffered an undisclosed sum of money in damage after a cargo truck ran into her home around 11:30.

“I was just about to open my front window when I heard a loud bang and I ran though my house, snatched up the phone and called my neighbour,” Alleyne said.

“When I went outside, I saw that the van had run into the [front] part of the house, carried away the gallery and the two plant pots. It damaged the front part of the car also.”

Alleyne’s home was damaged by water during Kirk and some of the cracks in the structure were still visible.

The driver, who was the lone occupant of the truck, had a load of lumber and said he swerved to avoid an oncoming car. Both he and the owner, declined to give their names.

Police soon arrived to carry out investigations.
