Po­lice hold an­other univer­sity of­fi­cial

An­other of­fi­cial from the Wash­ing­ton Univer­sity of Bar­ba­dos (WUB) was in po­lice cus­tody yes­ter­day.

Re­li­able sources told the Week­end Na­tion that the direc­tor of the con­tro­versy-em­broiled, St Philip-based off­shore med­i­cal univer­sity was be­ing in­ter­viewed by of­fi­cers of the Fraud Squad.

He had not been charged up to press time.

On Mon­day, 42-year-old chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer of the WUB, Gopi Venkata Rao, was charged with four counts of is­su­ing bad cheques, to­tal­ing $3 mil­lion, to Casa Grande and Builders Value Mart, be­tween April 1, last year, and Septem­ber 30, this year.

Rao was re­manded to Dodds Prison and re­turns to the Dis­trict “C” St Matthias Mag­is­trates’ Court on Mon­day, Oc­to­ber 15.
