Police hold another university official
Another official from the Washington University of Barbados (WUB) was in police custody yesterday.
Reliable sources told the Weekend Nation that the director of the controversy-embroiled, St Philip-based offshore medical university was being interviewed by officers of the Fraud Squad.
He had not been charged up to press time.
On Monday, 42-year-old chief executive officer of the WUB, Gopi Venkata Rao, was charged with four counts of issuing bad cheques, totaling $3 million, to Casa Grande and Builders Value Mart, between April 1, last year, and September 30, this year.
Rao was remanded to Dodds Prison and returns to the District “C” St Matthias Magistrates’ Court on Monday, October 15.
