Daily Nation (Barbados) - - News -

A Whitehall, St Michael man is nursing injuries today after he was shot in the lower back on Wednesday night.

Police reports said 32-year-old Peter Toppin was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in a private vehicle after he was shot while at Whitehall Road.

A resident said Toppin was walking through a track which connects Whitehall No. 1 with Whitehall No. 2 when he was set upon by three other men.

“At night, the track is very dark and it was only he coming through there. So they would have had to know he was coming through there,” the resident said.

The resident was unsure of the time the incident took place but added “a good set of people were out there because a guy at the corner has a gym and people were there sitting down by the gym and some were now walking coming down the gap at the same time,” the resident said.

Police are investigating the incident which occurred around 6:50 p.m. on Wednesday. They are asking anyone with information to contact them at any police station.
