Economy of Belarus - - TOURISM IN BELARUS -

in 2010 Smilovichy walk-mill, Cherven district, sold over 180,000 pairs of felt boots.

Smilovichy-made valenki, or felt boots, are popular not only in Belarus but also abroad. Exports increased by 30% in 2010 over 2009. They were exported to Russia, Ukraine, Baltic States, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, etc.

Felt boots sell extremely well in Belarus, too. At the beginning of winter the company even had to restrict exports to meet domestic demand.

Thanks to a modern Italian line, the company now produces polyurethanesoled felt boots of the smallest and largest sizes. The product range has been greatly expanded. Now the company offers felt boots with ribbons, pompoms and embroidery, with natural and artificial fur. Children’s felt boots come with light transparent galoshes. The company is now working on female low-heeled models.
