Be­larus and China have signed an in­vest­ment con­tract to build the res­i­den­tial district le­byazhy in Minsk.

It is the first ma­jor Be­laru­sianChi­nese in­vest­ment project that in­volves for­eign di­rect in­vest­ments. It will cost ap­prox­i­mately $200-250 mil­lion and will be im­ple­mented in 2016.

The res­i­den­tial district Le­byazhy will com­prise 33 res­i­den­tial build­ings, with the to­tal area over 180,000 square me­ters. Le­byazhy will have homes for nearly 20,000 res­i­dents. Half of them will live in houses built by Chi­nese work­ers us­ing Chi­nese de­signs and stan­dards. The money will be al­lo­cated by Chi­nese banks.

Apart from the res­i­den­tial district Le­byazhy the two coun­tries have come to terms to build a five-star ho­tel Peking in Minsk, a mul­ti­func­tional com­plex China Town, and a Be­laru­sian-chi­nese tech­no­log­i­cal clus­ter.
