Datong Electric locomotive Plant (China) started to produce two-section electric BKG-1 locomotives for Belarusian railways.
The first two locomotives are expected to arrive in Belarus in early 2012. The vehicles will be certified by the Belarusian State Transport University.
According to the contract signed between Belarusian Railways, the Electrical Equipment Export and Import Corporation and Datong Electric Locomotive Plant, the Chinese partners will deliver twelve Hxd2-based mainline freight locomotives in 2012. Chinese banks will provide loans to execute the project.
Belarusian Railways is acquiring the new equipment due to the everincreasing flow of transit through Belarus. The BCG-1 locomotive of the 9600kw capacity is able to train cars weighing 7500 tonnes or more.
By the way, the freight electric locomotive was developed by the Chinese company in partnership with the France’s Alstom, one of the world’s leading engineering companies. It is fully compliant with European standards.
