A POTATO “HOUSE”

The Tolochin-based tinned food fac­tory, Vitebsk Oblast, has built a modern fa­cil­ity to store pota­toes.

De­signed to store 12,000 tonnes of pota­toes in bulk, it will en­able the com­pany to keep pota­toes in a good con­di­tion. The project was im­ple­mented in 2010-2011 and cost about Br30 bil­lion in ef­fec­tive prices.

The Tolochin tinned food fac­tory is the key tax payer in Tolochin District. It spe­cial­izes in mak­ing fruit and grape wines, potato starch, pasta prod­ucts, grow­ing agri­cul­tural crops. The com­pany’s own base of raw ma­te­ri­als in­cludes over 4,500 hectares of farm­land.

In H1 2011 the com­pany turned out Br12.3 bil­lion worth of mer­chan­dise, 116.4% as against the same pe­riod of last year. Ex­port to Rus­sia alone nearly tripled.
