Towards the Knowledge Economy

This was the focal point of the presentation made by Deputy Education and Science Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei

The Belarus-russia innovation conference held within the framework of the Belarusian Innovation Week was very dynamic and busy. Famous scientists, experts, Union State officials, businessmen, heads of innovative companies and associations of the two countries got together in the Round Hall of the National Library of Belarus. Brief presentations of current projects and new solutions immediately became the themes of roundtables. Therefore, by the end of the plenary session, the parties drafted protocols of intent in IT, bio– and nano– technologies, microelectronics and photonics, medicine and education. Decisions should be made fast. After all, the abovementioned industries are the backbone of the knowledge economy that is the ultimate goal of Belarus and Russia. The sustainable development of the two countries and their position in the international arena largely depend on how fast innovative ideas are assimilated by the national economies. In order to advance to new technological paradigms, the two countries need to unite their intellectual and manufacturing potential and take the most of their cooperation experience in implementing innovative projects.

Ivanets. It is not a secret that most countries of the world are now trying to build the knowledge economy. Responding to the challenges of today, Belarus and Russia are doing the same. We have substantial intellectual and manufacturing potential to build a true knowledge economy in the nearest future.

Of course, this requires concerted effort of scientists and manufacturers of the two countries. The two countries have been collaborating for quite a long time already.
