“Import substitution is a most important state priority, playing a crucial role in the economic security of our country. It is vividly testified by the real situation that took place on our currency market, consumer market and other markets in 2011, affecting interests of both economic entities and the entire population. The high import share in our economy is one of the main reasons behind the foreign currency shortage,” President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said at the permanent seminar for executives of central state and regional government bodies held to discuss import substitution as the most important factor for balanced development of the national economy.
