Economy of Belarus - - IMPORT SUBSTITUTION -

Two large projects have been launched by the Vitebsk hor­ti­cul­tural com­pany and Klet­skbased Gamma Vkusa com­pany as part of the Baby Food na­tional pro­gram. A to­tal of Br18.2 bil­lion will be in­jected into the projects in 2012.

The Vitebsk com­pany will open a new work­shop to pro­duce tinned fish and meat in glass con­tain­ers. Gamma Vkusa is set to open an up-to-date line to man­u­fac­ture tinned fruit and veg­eta­bles. The com­pa­nies are de­vel­op­ing their own feed zones in or­der to widen the as­sort­ment of raw ma­te­rial meet­ing all nec­es­sary qual­ity and safety re­quire­ments. Thus, in 2011 the Radun­skoye com­pany with its new plan­ta­tions of fruit and berry crops made part of the Vitebsk hor­ti­cul­tural com­pany, while the Kletsk com­pany laid out a 44-hectare gar­den.
