HIGH-YIELD LAKNEYA

Economy of Belarus - - TAXATION SYSTEM -

A new va­ri­ety of buck­wheat de­vel­oped by the NASB Agri­cul­ture Re­search Cen­ter has been in­cluded into the Be­laru­sian State Reg­istry 2012.

The Lakneya av­er­age crop yield is 21 cent­ners per hectare, the max­i­mum one is 33 cent­ners per hectare. The va­ri­ety pos­sesses a unique com­bi­na­tion of high tech­no­log­i­cal, grain and taste qual­i­ties. Lakneya will join such high­yield va­ri­eties as Vlada, Marta, Anas­ta­sia and Sap­fir.

In 2011 the ar­eas un­der buck­wheat in Be­larus were in­creased by 16,300 hectares to 39,900 hectares. The gross yield reached 60,000 tonnes as against 25,200 tonnes in 2010. A to­tal of 27,300 tonnes was de­liv­ered to lo­cal pro­cess­ing com­pa­nies.
