Amount of trans­ac­tions made with plas­tic cards al­most dou­bles

In Q3 2012, the amount of trans­ac­tions made with plas­tic cards in Be­larus reached Br44.4 tril­lion, up 1.9 times as against the same pe­riod last year.

Ac­cord­ing to the Na­tional Bank, as of 1 Oc­to­ber the num­ber of bank­ing cards in cir­cu­la­tion made up 10.037 mil­lion, up by 238,300 over 2011.

In Jan­uary-Septem­ber, over 482.5 mil­lion trans­ac­tions es­ti­mated at about Br114.6 tril­lion were made us­ing bank­ing cards in Be­larus. Cash­less trans­ac­tions ac­counted for 61.9% of the to­tal num­ber of trans­ac­tions made with cards, and 18.7% of all trans­ac­tions. As for for­eign cur­rency trans­ac­tions, their num­ber over this pe­riod ex­ceeded 2.45 mil­lion and was es­ti­mated at over $1.127 mil­lion. Cash­less trans­ac­tions ac­counted for 17.2% of the to­tal num­ber of trans­ac­tions made with cards de­nom­i­nated in for­eign cur­rency, and 10.1% of the to­tal num­ber of trans­ac­tions.
