The Be­laru­sian Leather and Footwear Hold­ing Com­pany Marko was founded in 2013 as part of the in­vest­ment project to pro­duce up to 5 mil­lion pairs of footwear per year and up­grade a fur pro­cess­ing fac­tory with the annual pro­cess­ing ca­pac­ity of 300,000 sheep­skin and 250,000 fur prod­ucts. The hold­ing com­pany in­cor­po­rates the Be­laru­sian leather and footwear com­pany Marko, the pri­vate com­pany San Marko, OAO Krasny Ok­tyabr, the pri­vate com­pany Vitma, OOO Marko Ser­vice, and Vitebsk Fur Fac­tory.

At present Marko pro­duces about 4 mil­lion pairs of shoes per year. In July 2016, the en­ter­prise pro­duced its 55 mil­lionth pair of footwear – women’s an­kle boots Size 38.

The trade and lo­gis­tics cen­ter of the hold­ing com­pany was opened in De­cem­ber 2015. The to­tal ware­house area for fin­ished prod­ucts is 10,000m2. The fa­cil­ity can store 1 mil­lion pairs of footwear. Plans have been made to dou­ble the stor­age area af­ter the con­struc­tion of a sim­i­lar fa­cil­ity nearby. The ex­ist­ing en­gi­neer­ing in­fra­struc­ture can cover the area of 20,000m2.
