Be­larus is the CIS leader in the de­vel­op­ment of telecom­mu­ni­ca­tion ser­vices

To­day it is hard to imag­ine our life with­out In­ter­net, phones, and tele­vi­sion. These tech­nolo­gies evolve over time. To­day we can talk about dig­i­tal gov­ern­ment and smart homes, vir­tual phone sta­tions, and in­ter­ac­tive tele­vi­sion. Bel­t­ele­com Di­rec­tor Gen­eral Sergei SIVODEDOV explains how telecom­mu­ni­ca­tion tech­nolo­gies change our lives day by day and what new prod­ucts can be tested now in the in­ter­view with the Econ­omy of Be­larus Mag­a­zine.

Thanks to close at­ten­tion of the gov­ern­ment, in­for­ma­tion and com­mu­ni­ca­tion tech­nolo­gies in Be­larus have made great ad­vances in the last few years. What can you tell us about the re­sults? How ac­ces­si­ble are telecom­mu­ni­ca­tion tech­nolo­gies in Be­larus in com­par­i­son with the neigh­bor­ing coun­tries?

In or­der to eval­u­ate ac­com­plish­ments of na­tions as they build an in­for­ma­tion so­ci­ety, the In­ter national Telecom­mu­ni­ca­tion Union has es­tab­lished a handy in­dex to mea­sure the de­vel­op­ment of in­for­ma­tion and com­mu­ni­ca­tion tech­nolo­gies. Last year Be­larus was ranked 36th in the in­for­ma­tion and com­mu­ni­ca­tion tech­nolo­gies (ICT) de­vel­op­ment in­dex. The coun­try has greatly im­proved its po­si­tion in the last few years.
