In­dian Am­bas­sador vis­its Chukha Hy­dro Power Plant

The In­dian Am­bas­sador to Bhutan His Ex­cel­lency Shri Gau­tam Bam­bawale vis­ited the Chukha Hy­dro power Plant last Tues­day, a week af­ter ar­riv­ing in the coun­try and pre­sent­ing cre­den­tials to His Majesty the King. This is the first visit of the am­bas­sador out­side Thim­phu which un­der­lines the im­por­tance of hy­dropower co­op­er­a­tion be­tween Bhutan and In­dia. The Chukha Hy­dropower Plant is an abid­ing sym­bol of the co­op­er­a­tion and the part­ner­ship be­tween the two coun­tries.

The Chukha Hy­dro Power Plant was in­au­gu­rated on 21st of Oc­to­ber 1998 by His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo and then Pres­i­dent of In­dia , Mr. R. Venkatara­man .

Ac­cord­ing to the press re­lease from the Em­bassy of In­dia in Thim­phu “CHP gen­er­ates over 1800 mil­lion units of elec­tric­ity an­nu­ally and is a good ex­am­ple of mu­tu­ally ben­e­fi­cial co­op­er­a­tion a be­tween Bhutan and In­dia.”
