One month open foot­ball tour­na­ment in Wang­due

Each and ev­ery in­di­vid­ual may be hav­ing the fever of FIFA World Cup which ended few months ago but to give away the Word Cup Fever, Bajo Higher Se­condary School in Wang­duepho­drang g is or­ga­niz­ing the one month league cum knock out open foot­ball tour­na­ment com­mences from 1st Au­gust to 30th Au­gust of this month.

The week days had two matches and the Satur­day had three matches and the Sun­day had four matches. In each team, it has seven­teen play­ers and a man­ager who man­ages the team and each team are al­lowed to hire two na­tional club play­ers and are al­lowed to have four sub­sti­tu­tions per match. And dur­ing the match, hun­dreds of peo­ple were gath­ered ev­ery day to wit­ness the matches.

Ac­cord­ing to the Sports Com­mit­tee, Mr. Pema Tsh­er­ing said, the match has been or­ga­nized to make sen­si­tize on foot­ball as each and ev­ery in­di­vid­ual likes foot­ball.

Another co­or­di­na­tor of the tour­na­ment Mr. Yeshey Dhendup said, the main mo­tive of or­ga­niz­ing the match was to re­cover from the FIFA World Cup

fever-get away and also to pro­mote the beau­ti­ful game in the vicin­ity. He also added that the match has been or­ga­nized with keep­ing in mind that each and ev­ery in­di­vid­ual for all ages to pro­vide op­por­tu­ni­ties to par­tic­i­pated and di­vert their mind from drugs and al­co­hol.

A team from two nearby Dzongkhag; Gasa Dzongkhag and Pu­nakha Dzongkhag had par­tic­i­pated for the match. Gasa Dzongkhag had two teams.

The max­i­mum teams were from Pu­natshangchhu-I and II Hy­dro­elec­tric Project Au­thor­ity’s staffs.
