ABD will launch the Bhutan Gen­der Equal­ity Di­ag­nos­tic Study

Acom­pre­hen­sive as­sess­ment on the progress of gen­der equal­ity in Bhutan will be launched by the Asian Devel­op­ment Bank (ADB) in part­ner­ship with the Na­tional Com­mis­sion for Women and Chil­dren and the United Na­tions at Tashi Taj on 25th of Au­gust 2014. The Bhutan Gen­der Equal­ity Di­ag­nos­tic of Se­lected Sec­tors is the first com­pre­hen­sive anal­y­sis of gen­der equal- ity and women’s sta­tus in eight se­lected sec­tors in the coun­try. The study aims to pro­vide a com­mon plat­form to un­der­stand, plan, and ini­ti­ate in­ter­ven­tions in the eight sec­tors. Ly­onpo Dorji Cho­den, Chair­per­son of the Na­tional Com­mis­sion for Women and Chil­dren and the Hon­or­able Min­is­ter for Works and Hu­man Set­tle­ment, will de­liver the key­note ad­dress and lead the pub­li­ca­tion launch. Francesco Tornieri will present the find­ings of the re­port and will be avail­able for me­dia in­ter­views. The launch will be fol­lowed by a multi-stake­holder con­sul­ta­tion on en­abling an en­vi­ron­ment for women’s em­pow­er­ment.
