ABD will launch the Bhutan Gender Equality Diagnostic Study
Acomprehensive assessment on the progress of gender equality in Bhutan will be launched by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in partnership with the National Commission for Women and Children and the United Nations at Tashi Taj on 25th of August 2014. The Bhutan Gender Equality Diagnostic of Selected Sectors is the first comprehensive analysis of gender equal- ity and women’s status in eight selected sectors in the country. The study aims to provide a common platform to understand, plan, and initiate interventions in the eight sectors. Lyonpo Dorji Choden, Chairperson of the National Commission for Women and Children and the Honorable Minister for Works and Human Settlement, will deliver the keynote address and lead the publication launch. Francesco Tornieri will present the findings of the report and will be available for media interviews. The launch will be followed by a multi-stakeholder consultation on enabling an environment for women’s empowerment.
