Bhutan ad­mit­ted as the mem­ber coun­try in United Na­tions 43 years ago

21st Septem­ber 1971: Hav­ing re­ceived the rec­om­men­da­tion of the Se­cu­rity Coun­cil on 10 Fe­bru­ary 1971, Bhutan was ad­mit­ted as 128th mem­ber in the United Na­tions. The Sec­re­tary-Gen­eral, and the Pres­i­dent of the Gen­eral Assem­bly, stood be­fore the flag and the rep­re­sen­ta­tive of Bhutan HRH Prince Nam­gyal Wangchuk, the then Min­is­ter of Trade, Com­merce and In­dus­try of Bhutan, Ly­onpo Dawa Tser­ing, the then Min­is­ter of For­eign Af­fairs of Bhutan and Ly­opno San­gay Pen­jore, the then Per­ma­nent Rep­re­sen­ta­tive of Bhutan in UN.
