The revision of stipend for the patient referring to India is underway
which was flag off from Khasadrapchu Middle Secondary School till Clock Tower square Thimphu yesterday.
Lyonchhen said the Move for Health initiative is to make aware to the people about the need to keep one’s body fit and do regular exercises which would prevent one from lifestyle related diseases and non-communicable diseases whereby reducing the referral cases and lower the expenditure of government on health.
Meanwhile, Bhutanese patients are mostly referred to Kolkata, Guwahati and Vellore in India. The given stipends are meant for the purpose of food and the lodging expenses only while expenditure on the treatment of the patient is paid directly by the government through their liaison offices.
