Bhutan in­vited for the 18th SAARC Sum­mit

His Ex­cel­lency Mr. Ma­hen­dra Ba­hadur Pandey, Min­is­ter for For­eign Af­fairs, Gov­ern­ment of Nepal called on the Act­ing Prime Min­is­ter Ly­onpo Dam­cho Dorji at the Gya­ly­ong Tshogkhang last Tues­day.

Mr. Pandey is in Bhutan to ex­tend invitation as spe­cial en­voy of the Prime Min­is­ter of Nepal for the 18th SAARC Sum­mit and its pre­ced­ing meet­ings, which are sched­uled to be held from 22-27th Novem­ber 2014 in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Ly­onpo Dam­cho ex­tended a warm wel­come to the For­eign Min­is­ter and thanked him for vis­it­ing Bhutan to present the Let­ter of Invitation from Rt. Hon’ble Sushil Koirala, Prime Min­is­ter of Nepal. He also ex­pressed his ap­pre­ci­a­tion to Gov­ern­ment of Nepal for host­ing the sum­mit in Kathmandu this year for the third time and con­veyed that the Royal Gov­ern­ment of Bhutan would ex­tend full support to Nepal.

Ly­onpo stated that given Nepal’s past ex­pe­ri­ence in prepa­ra­tion of sum­mits, the 18th SAARC sum­mit, would no doubt be a suc­cess­ful one. Ly­onpo ex­pressed con­fi­dence that un­der the Chair­man­ship of Gov­ern­ment of Nepal, SAARC would be able to wit­ness tremen­dous trans­for­ma­tion to­wards re­al­iz­ing the aims and ob­jec­tives for which it was founded.

Nepal hosted the 3rd SAARC Sum­mit in 1987 and 11th sum­mit in 2002.
