PM in­au­gu­rates Dungsam Ce­ment Cor­po­ra­tion Limited

Ly­onch­hen Tsh­er­ing Tob­gay in­au­gu­rated the Dungsam Ce­ment Cor­po­ra­tion Limited (DCCL) on 22nd Oc- to­ber 2014 at Nganglam, Pema­gat­shel.

Ad­dress­ing the gath­er­ing, Ly­onch­hen said that the plant would ben­e­fit the peo­ple of Nganglam in terms of road, bridges, em­ploy­ment, town­ship and so on. He re­minded them that achiev­ing self-re­liance was the vi­sion of His Majesties the Kings and the plant will con­trib­ute sub­stan­tially to­ward the coun­try’s eco­nomic de­vel­op­ment. He added that the wait was fi­nally over and more than three decades later, the plant could be in­au­gu­rated to­day. Ly­onch­hen em­pha­sized on the im­por­tance of ce­ment in in­fra­struc­ture de­vel­op­ment and in­formed that in terms of pro­duc­tion, the cur­rent plant came with the ca­pac­ity to pro­duce three times more ce­ment than the Pen­den Ce­ment Limited (PCL), thereby con­tribut­ing three times more of what PCL has been con­tribut­ing to the econ­omy so far.

Ly­onch­hen said that rec­og­niz­ing the im­por­tance and the ben­e­fits the plant will have on the peo­ple of east­ern dzongkhags and in par­tic­u­lar the peo­ple of Nganglam, it was with the support of His Majesties the Kings that the in­au­gu­ra­tion of the plant had been pos­si­ble to­day.

DCCL has pro­vided em­ploy­ment to 412 peo­ple, of which only 4 are for­eign work­ers.

Dasho San­gay Khandu, Chair­man of Druk Hold­ing and In­vest­ments and Cheda Jamt­sho, Mem­ber of Par­lia­ment were amongst the guests who at­tended the cer­e­mony.

On the side­lines of the event, Ly­onch­hen Tsh­er­ing Tob­gay met with the of­fi­cials of DCCL, the lo­cal lead­ers, busi­ness­men and landown­ers of Nganglam and held dis­cus­sions on the new town plan and other is­sues in the Dungkhag.
