Prime Min­is­ter launches the logo for 60th Birth An­niver­sary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo

Ly­onch­hen Tsh­er­ing Tob­gay, Leyt­shog Lopen Rim­pochhe and mem­bers of the 60th Birth An­niver­sary Cel­e­bra­tion Com­mit­tee (BCC) launched the Logo for the cel­e­bra­tion of 60th birth an­niver­sary of His Majesty the Fourth King at Gya­ly­ong Tshogkhang yes­ter­day. Leyt­shog Lopen Rim­pochhe also led a prayer/ Thrue­sel (pu­rifi­ca­tion) cer­e­mony dur­ing the launch.

The logo has a green dragon which rep­re­sents the strong per­son­al­ity of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, who was through­out his golden rule spearhead en­vi­ron­men­tal con­ser­va­tion in the King­dom that brought him in­ter­na­tional fame and recogni- tion and the green colour also rep­re­sents His Majesty‘s self­less ser­vice to the na­tional and the peo­ple of Bhutan as an ul­ti­mate Com­man­der – in -chief of the arm force in en­sur­ing peace and se­cu­rity in the coun­try.

There is a sheep horn on the dragon’s head rep­re­sent­ing the birth sign of His Majesty the Fourth King which is fe­male wood sheep year .

There are four na­tional flag coloured jew­els clasped in the claws of the dragon which rep­re­sents the Four Pil­lars of Gross Na­tional Hap­pi­ness that have been in­stru­men­tal in guid­ing Bhutan’s so­cio – eco­nomic de­vel­op­ment un­der the wise and far­sighted lead­er­ship of the Fourth King. This also rep­re­sents His Majesty as pro­founder and the cus­to­dian of the GNH.

The Golden Khorlo is de­picted to show that while pe­rus­ing coun­try’s de­vel­op­ment process , His Majesty also en­sured that Bud­dhism as state re­li­gion was never left be­hind.

The Dragon and the Khorlo to­gether re­sem­bles like a fig­ure 60 de­pict­ing His Majesty’s 60th Birth An­niver­sary.

Kin­zang Tsh­er­ing, Se­nior Pro­gramme Of­fi­cer from the Depart­ment of Lo­cal Gov­er­nance (DLG), Min­istry of Home and Cul­tural Af­fairs de­signed the logo.

His Majesty the King granted an au­di­ence to the par­tic­i­pants at the Na­tional En­gi­neers and Ar­chi­tects Con­fer­ence. At the con­fer­ence, His Majesty also graced an ex­hi­bi­tion on lo­cally pro­duced con­struc­tion ma­te­ri­als last Fri­day.

Ms. Christina Carl­son, UN Res­i­dent Co­or­di­na­tor do­nates blan­kets for the pa­tient at the pa­tient guest house on the oc­ca­sion of the UN Day cel­e­bra­tion on 24th Oc­to­ber 2014.
