Prime Minister launches the logo for 60th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo
Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay, Leytshog Lopen Rimpochhe and members of the 60th Birth Anniversary Celebration Committee (BCC) launched the Logo for the celebration of 60th birth anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth King at Gyalyong Tshogkhang yesterday. Leytshog Lopen Rimpochhe also led a prayer/ Thruesel (purification) ceremony during the launch.
The logo has a green dragon which represents the strong personality of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, who was throughout his golden rule spearhead environmental conservation in the Kingdom that brought him international fame and recogni- tion and the green colour also represents His Majesty‘s selfless service to the national and the people of Bhutan as an ultimate Commander – in -chief of the arm force in ensuring peace and security in the country.
There is a sheep horn on the dragon’s head representing the birth sign of His Majesty the Fourth King which is female wood sheep year .
There are four national flag coloured jewels clasped in the claws of the dragon which represents the Four Pillars of Gross National Happiness that have been instrumental in guiding Bhutan’s socio – economic development under the wise and farsighted leadership of the Fourth King. This also represents His Majesty as profounder and the custodian of the GNH.
The Golden Khorlo is depicted to show that while perusing country’s development process , His Majesty also ensured that Buddhism as state religion was never left behind.
The Dragon and the Khorlo together resembles like a figure 60 depicting His Majesty’s 60th Birth Anniversary.
Kinzang Tshering, Senior Programme Officer from the Department of Local Governance (DLG), Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs designed the logo.
His Majesty the King granted an audience to the participants at the National Engineers and Architects Conference. At the conference, His Majesty also graced an exhibition on locally produced construction materials last Friday.
