His Majesty the King graces the opening ceremony of the Fourth session of the second parliament
His Majesty the King graced the opening session of the fourth session of the second parliament last Wednesday. His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo was received in an elaborate Chhipdrel ceremony lead by the Speaker, Prime minister, ministers, chairperson of the National council and the members of the Parliament. Following that Zhudrel Phuentsum Tshopai ceremony was observed at the Gyelyong Tshongkhag . The function was attended by Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen , members of the Royal Family, clergy , government officials , representatives of the international community and students.
The Speaker Jigme Zangpo in his opening address expressed his gratitude to His Majesty the King for gracing the occasion and made special attention about the high level exchanges between Bhutan and India this year. He expressed that through such visits, the Bhutan- India relations have further strengthened.
The Speaker informed the parliament that during this session the national assembly will deliberate on office of the Attorney General bill, Entitlements & Services Conditions (Amendment) Bill for the holders, members and constitutional offices, Jabmi (Amendment) bill, Companies and Enterprise Registration bill. Further he informed that brief on Doha Amendment to the Kyoto Protocol to the UN Framework Convention on Climate change, statute of International Renewable Energy Agency and reports on the Implementation status of the Resolution of the 3rd session and the review to be undertaken on the Election Act will be deliberated.
