Visit Bhutan year 2015 launched

In or­der to com­mem­o­rate the 60th birth an­niver­sary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo , Ly­onchen Tsh­er­ing Tob­gay launched “Events Cal­en­dar” brochure in the cap­i­tal last Tues­day. The brochure will serve as in­for­ma­tion guide to all the events hap­pen­ing through­out Bhutan all year round.

Bhutan has de­clared 2015 as a Visit Bhutan Year to com­mem­o­rate the 60th birth an­niver­sary of His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck the beloved 4th King. A fig­ure loved and revered by all Bhutanese, it is an oc­ca­sion where the coun­try come to­gether to cel­e­brate 60 years of a life spent in the ser­vice of the na­tion and its peo­ple.

Tourism in Bhutan was in­tro­duced in 1974 dur­ing the corona­tion of His Majesty the 4th King. Since then Bhutan has pur­sued a cau­tious pol­icy in tourism guided by prin­ci­ples of sus­tain­abil­ity that is to­day the envy of many des­ti­na­tions in the world. There­fore, Bhutan is proud to ded­i­cate Visit Bhutan 2015 to His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck.

Many ex­cit­ing events and ac­tiv­i­ties have been planned to cel­e­brate the 60th birth an­niver­sary some of which are out­lined in this book­let. The tourism fra­ter­nity in­vites the world to join the Bhutanese in cel­e­brat­ing 60 years of Gross Na­tional Hap­pi­ness.
